Caravel rubber bearings have been studied with the purpose of substituting, wherever there is the possibility of a water cooling, the traditional bearings in hard metal (spheeres bushings, wooden material, etc.) Caravel bearings are formed by a metal part with a rubber covering; they can be of different types and have different characteristics. The external shell can vary, according to the different applications: the materials commonly used are iron, brass, steel, stainless steel, bronze, cast iron, plastic, antigalvanic materials and other more, provided they are compatible with the rubber fastening. The rubber lubrication channels can be axial or helicoidal with one or more right-hand or left-hand principles, as per the rotation of the axis.
