Pump shaft guide bearings
The customer requested the production of a new set of non-metallic bushings, in thermoplastic shell, to be placed on a set of radial flow pumps, double suction and with horizontal shaft. The customer requested the calculation of the tolerances in order to ensure, in addition to the correct water flow, also the ideal balance of the shaft along the entire pump body.
Following an analysis of the requests and characteristics of the pumps, POM-C was identified as the most suitable material. The POM-C copolymer is a semicrystalline thermoplastic whose advantageous properties include a low friction coefficient and good wear resistance. The construction in the tolerances calculated and proposed to the customer also allowed ideal operating conditions, such as vibration absorption at any speed and noise limitation.
