Non-standard tugboat bushing
The customer asked us to evaluate the possibility of removing the rubber surface of a worn bushing per 180 mm axle of a tugboat in service on the Northern Tyrrhenian Sea. The operation would have allowed the shipyard significant savings in time and costs, since it was not necessary to prepare a completely new bush, starting with a merger to be made according to design.
Caravel's experience in removing used elastomer and re-rubbing the support has made it possible to optimize and reduce tug downtime. The re-rubbing operation requires high specialization, so as not to damage the pre-existing shell and to obtain a product comparable to the new one in terms of durability and reliability. The availability of molds in stock allows us to carry out this operation over a wide range of axis diameters, especially for medium and large dimensions.
